Reflection

This is a time in our lives when a lot of looking back and reflecting is going on. With high school two weeks away from ended a knowing that we will never go to this school again is a crazy thing to think about. It seems like whenever I'm with friends now or a group of kids that is the topic of discussion and how fast it has gone by and also talking about all the great memories that we have had. It almost feels like a blur its gone that fast. I was talking with my friends the other day about being in the gym for our first day of high school ever at Fairview and how that doesn't seem long ago at all. We always talk about how great its been playing sports for Fairview and all the memories that have come with that all the good times we've had and how that s brought us so close together.
Its really hard to think of being at any other school besides Fairview. Soon we will all be leaving each other and getting ready for something new. This summer it will no longer be getting ready for our sports at Fairview and hanging out everyday it will be preparing to start the next chapter of our lives. Its a very weird feeling knowing that I will not be going to Fairview next year and not being with the kids that I have grown up with my whole life. I do know that none of us will ever forget these memories and everything that we have been through and it will always be a very important part of our lives

Blog Carnival 5

Its very hard at this age to think about our futures. I have no idea what I'm going to be doing later in my life and thats really scary and hard to think about. Many people tell me that you should always do the things that make you happy in your life. I think thats definitely a big part in setting up a future for yourself that will make you happy. I would ray rather have a job that I like doing and am happy with then have a job that I absolutely hate and make more money. I think thats another big key to a happy future is doing a job that you really enjoy.
Im always going to hold onto the things that I enjoyed in my childhood later on in my future I know that those things will always make me happy. Basketball for one I know that I'm not going to be able to play it forever but ill try to for as long as I can. I still will go and watch games and be involved with the sport that is something that will never change for me even though it will be tough when I'm not physically capable to play anymore.
Its also important to bond and stay together with people. Being around people that help you and make you feel good is going to be a big key in life later down the road. Its very important to keep good relationships with people that you know now in your life and also people that you meet down the road. People that you go through life together with will always help you out and pick you up when the times are hard and I think thats why its important to come together with people because with things are tough and not going well in your life then you always have them to fall back to and they will always be there if you build a close bond with them. Its going to be a crazy and fun adventure later in life no especially going to college and being separated from people that we have known for years its still important to come together and take this journey as it comes together.

Themes of Humanity

My human theme for this semester is doing everything together. I think that this really apples to me and everyone else in the senior class at this time. These are the last few months and last year that we will all be at school together. I was really thinking the other day about how close the time is where we are all going to be moving off and no longer going to school together and hanging out with some of the friends you have for several years now. I think its important to just to everything together right now because we will soon all be regreting it when we are all leaving and gone for college next year and so much changes. This is also the last year that I will be able to play sports competetively with the kids I have been playing with since I came into middle school in 6th grade. The is the last time that we get to do everything together as a team and go out and compete as a team together.

Writing about doing everything together just seemed like the right thing to write about for this blog carnival. It just seems like perfect timing for everything that is going on with all of us in the senior class right now. I even want to become closer to people that I don't really know in our grade and not just in our grade but in the school. I think it would be nice just to end high school on a good note and know a lot of people and band together and leave the school and everyone on a good note. My brother is a freshman and Fairview and we have been living together doing almost everything together for as long as I can remember. Through him I have met a lot of younger class man this year at Fairview and I ended up really liking them. It really hit me recently that age doesn't matter in high school and you can be friends and do anything together with anyone no matter the age which I think is really cool.

I chose to write about doing everything together because I think it is perfect timing for everyone to start doing everything together. Its crazy how little time that we have left together and it would be awesome to spend that time enjoying everyone and having fun together and it really blows my mind how little time we have left until we are all gone and moving on with our lives

Worth

Worth is everything to people. Every ones falls in love with things and people that are worth something to them. No one wants something in their lives that are worthless to them. Something with worth makes people feel happy and good about themselves
Ill tell you what, something that is worth a lot to me is my Xbox. I really don't know what I would do without it. I've been playing Xbox for about 5 years now and I probably play it way to much. I get judged for how much I play it but I don't really care I think its cool that I play it a lot. One reason its worth so much to me is because every time I play it I always have a good time, well most of the time. Sometimes I will get really mad when I lose a game because I take it so seriously. I've even broken a few controllers from throwing them after I have been so mad from losing a game. no matter what happens in my games though I will always love my Xbox and it has so much worth to me I wouldn't want any other gaming console on the planet I will always stay true to Xbox. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/7/76/Xbox-360S-Console-Set.jpg. All my friends have Xbox's too and there is nothing better than having an online gaming session and night after school. I would feel really left out if I didn't have an Xbox because I would never get to play with them. Their Xbox's are worth a lot to them too. We always talk about how we don't know what we would do if we never started gaming it is a true passion of ours.
This is what I think worth is to people something that they truly love and care about. I just wrote a paragraph about something that a lot of you don't care about at all but worth is very different from each kind of person in this world. If something has worth in someones eyes they must have good qualities, that's what makes up worth. Worth can be anything whether its a gaming console, jewelry, houses, or sports team. One thing that I find really funny is when there are fans that are crazy about their sports teams and the are worth a lot to them but their team is absolutely worthless on the field. I think a great example of people like this are Colorado State fans. They always talk so much trash before the game and can never back it up on the field because they are WORTHLESS. http://nightlifedenver.com/images/2/media/2011/08/29/Travon+Patterson+Colorado+State+v+Colorado+fFnscJYCTiQl.jpg
Worth is very different for everyone in this world. Worth in someones eyes represents great qualities and gets a person attached. Everyone has different taste in things that are worth something to them.

Beauty

Beauty is a something that people see as being perfect to them. Not everyone sees beauty in the same things and thats what makes beauty so interesting. Seeing beauty in a person or object means that their qualities are just something that draws you and you cant get enough of.
One particular object that I know many people think are beautiful is something that we see every day and that is the Rocky Mountains. I don't see how you cannot think that these mountains are beautiful. Whenever I go out of town and tell people that I am from Boulder they tell me how jealous of me living there. And they go on and on and on about the mountains. How could you say they are not beautiful there are so many different ways that these mountains can be seen. One of my favorites personally is a fresh white powdery snow that falls over the flatirons. Waking up in the morning and seeing that is one of the most amazing things to me it has really never gotten old. Also a nice summer sunset falling behind the mountains is always filled with beauty. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/80/Flatirons_Winter_Sunrise_edit_2.jpg. People see so much beauty in land. Some people even travel places just to look at the view and sightsee. My dad grew up in a small town in southwest Kansas and he would always tell me that there is nothing more incredible than a sunset over the plain in Kansas. I didnt really believe him at first I didnt think a sunset could be that great in Kansas and I think thats what most people think. My family would travel to Kansas a lot to see my grandparents and every time I told my friends that I would go to Kansas they would always tell me how awful it sounded and that they were sorry for me. It was actually pretty funny. Ill never forget the first time I was there on my grandparents farm. It was a summer evening and the sun was about to go down and my dad told me I was about to get a taste of what these Kansas sunsets were all about and I really wasnt that excited. Then the sun started setting and it was actually really incredible.http://mollieshambeaushow.files.wordpress.com/2010/07/sunset-in-kansas-2.jpg.  I told all my friends about the experience with the sunset and they didnt think it would be to special or anything different from colorado. But that is what beauty is all about is the difference people see in everything. No one else can make a decision for you if you think something is beautiful and I think that is whats really interesting about it. It's all in what you see in the object that draws you that makes up beauty.

Mentor text work Toughness

Jay Bilas really has a good outlook on the game of basketball and what goes on outside of it. In his writing he talks about how the game of basketball these days has a lack of toughness. He also talks about how toughness has no relationship to how nice a person is and I think that is interesting because I think most when people think of someone who is tough the first thing that comes to mind is that they are mean or a bully. He also talks about how a lot of coaches look at players bases off their toughness and he believes that having toughness is a very important part in taking your game to the next level and impressing coaches.
I can really relate to this because pretty much every coach that I have played for has stressed being tough. Jay says in his book that he thinks toughness is also lost in our society and people get many things just handed to them and don't have to work for anything. He considers this to be a very important part in our lives is working for something and going after the things that we want.
I am about to read this biography about what Jay Bilas thinks about toughness. I am very interested to start reading it and get a better view of his thoughts. He also is a former college basketball player and is an analysis no for college basketball and watch his shows on ESPN all the time. I like what he thinks about the game and I am really excited to get some more in depth thoughts from him

Obsession

Have you ever felt like you cant get enough of something? That is what obsession is any many people are obsessed with certain things in their lives and cant go a day without thinking about it and that is all they think about. They are overwhelmed thinking or doing the thing that they are obsessed with everyday and its a constant battle not to thing about it. Even myself I will find drifting off in class thinking about the next basketball game that I'm going to play in and how excited I am for that or maybe even the next time I'm going to get home and play xbox. Its these two things that I am really obsessed with and really enjoy doing and that I believe I was leads people to be obsessed with things.
Sports are one thing that a lot of people are obsessed with. Some people will fall in love with winning and that is what sports are all about and having a competitive nature. Theres sort of a thrill when you do something great while playing a sport just little things about it that people get attached to. Even being a fan or a sport or a sports team can make people obsessed. All they want for is for there team to do well. They become obsessed with certain players on their teams and some want to grow up to be just like them. They love seeing them go out and play well. http://sports.factexpert.com/657-sports-obsession.php  . People who go to games will cheer and talk trash to opposing fans. They get a thrill out of seeing there team do well when they play and that they get to brag for a week on how they won and if they continue to win they will go on and on and on and fall in love with being a fan of the best team in their sport which is basically what obsession is.
Some people will take their sports obsessions with their certian team or player to the absolute extreme. After every win the football program and the University of Auburn get all the fans go out to Toomers trees and TP them http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2013/0420/ncf_a_toomers_corner_b1_600.jpg . People get a joy out of doing this and are obsessed with the team winning and also the tradition they have of winning. The University of Alabama are the rivals of the University of Auburn and one man who is obsessed with the football team at the University of Alabama might have just taken things a little too far. One night he went out and poisoned Toomers trees at Auburn. This might not seem like a big deal to a lot of people but the trees at Auburn weren't just loved because fans got to TP them after games but everyone at the University said they trees were very beautiful and many people became obsessed for them because of that reason. When the fan who was obsessed with Alabama poisoned the trees he was basically wanting to show his hatred for the University of Auburn. The people at the University of Auburn were very crushed by this. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/9360611/harvey-updyke-freed-ending-toomer-corner-tree-poisoning-case.
This may seem dumb to a lot of people but its the love that people have for sports and the passion they carry and the joy that they get when they upset the enemy or see them fall is truly what makes people obsessed with sports.
